Gadgets – Mechanical Or Maniacal Devices?

Gadgets are guy things. Maybe it’s in their genes – or maybe it’s just in their blue jeans.

My guy loves digital cameras. I don’t because I don’t like having my picture taken. Maybe it’s because I’m part American Indian and I feel like my soul is being taken. Of course, you’d think something that could take my soul could take my wrinkles too.

You’d think I could get with the twenty-first century, but not being mechanically inclined continually gets in my way. The more buttons and switches something has, the more chance there is for me to experience the frenzied frustration of failure – to swear.

I don’t want a phone to take pictures, text message, remind me to buy a birthday card or tell me when I’m late. I just want a phone to talk to someone who’s not in voice range. What I want is two paper cups and a very long string.

I had an electric can opener, but I gave it to the thrift store. It was awkward to operate, hard to clean and didn’t make canned food taste better. Canned food is for camping or power failures. Maybe electric can openers should come with long extensions cords.

Am I Too Old Fashion for Gadgets?

I think I don’t suffer for “technology phobia”. I have a lap-top, I check mails with my Palm. I like to think of myself as one that can keeps up with progress and technical stuff. I had this argument with a young colleague whether or not the old fashion business cards , as we know it today, will still be popular in the future. So I went and did some research:

I bumped into two articles which had three common issues:

1. They were both dealing with business cards and claimed that the conventional business cards are “Passé”

2. They were both written by people who had something to do with China: One was a business man who was working in China and the other one was a Chinese woman. (Guess what? She was working in China too)

3. Both authors suggested an alternative: Electronic Business Card.

Why did they claim that business cards are “Passé”?

1. Once you begin collecting them, taking a business card from anyone who offers you one, your wallet start to puff up until it might blows off. So you sit down and try to select “the men from the boys” and you find yourself not able to decide which one to get rid off because you are sure that the one you’ll throw away will be the one you’ll need tomorrow.

Great Gift Ideas for the Man Who Loves Gadgets

If you have to buy an interesting gift for your friend, father or even boyfriend, here’s a list of cool gift ideas that are ideal for the man who loves gadgets and gizmos and always knows what he wants.

The irreplaceable iPod. Every man wants an iPod. This is not because he actually wants to listen to music all day, but because now he can. He can listen to music in his car, at work, at the gym and even at home – but best of all, he can listen to the music that he wants to listen to! The iPod is the irreplaceable accessory of the 21st century, and whether you want a Nano or a Mini, every man knows the social benefits of having this great little music player. Here’s a tip: the bigger the better! And if it has a full color movie screen, this will make the perfect gift for someone special.

The automatic toilet seat. This is not a joke. Ask any man what he hates most about living with his wife or girlfriend and he’ll tell you that he hates being yelled at about leaving the toilet seat up. The automatic toilet seat is a nifty gadget that automatically lifts up when it senses that there is someone standing in front of it, and will automatically flush and put itself down again when that person has moved away. Not only is this great for avoiding potential toilet-seat fights but it is also really smart for mid-night bathroom excursions when you sometimes forget to check if the toilet seat is up at all (because really it should be at all times anyway!).
